Red Skelton
The Legacy Continues
Drs. Phil and Pat Summers
The Skelton family will always remember and treasure the memory of Dr. Phillip Summers for his tireless efforts which helped make possible the Red Skelton Performing Art Center and the Red Skelton Museum of American Comedy on the campus of Vincennes University. Dr. Summer’s passing was a devastating event for the Skelton family. An innovator, tireless leader and a devoted man – everyone who knew him loved him. He was the undisputed leader of the Red Skelton Museum of American Comedy – he helped forge the goals of the Museum and lived until the Museum opened.

We are honored and proud that Dr. Pat Summers, Phil’s loving wife of more than fifty years, has been appointed chair of the Red Skelton Museum Foundation Board. Pat will now take the torch which Phil lit and carry it forward to make the Red Skelton Museum an internationally known and respected institution, perpetuating Red’s legacy to friends around the world. Dr. Pat Summers is a respected educator, business and community leader whose experiences are perfectly matched to assume the responsibilities of her husband, and move the Museum forward for the next generation. I am proud and honored that Dr. Pat Summers will continue to lead the Museum with the standards of excellence set forth by her husband.
